According to the American Heart Association, spending quality time with your pet is good for YOUR heart. It is up to you to look after your dog’s heart in return. A healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise (physical and mental) are important to keep your dog in good shape and his heart strong.
maxxicardio can be part of that daily care, supporting your dog’s heart, stamina and quality of life.
All dogs can benefit from support for healthy heart muscle, stamina and focus. Many dog owners give maxxicardio as part of their dog’s daily care, to support overall heart health and stamina. A heart supplement like maxxicardio is especially useful for:
* Dog breeds that are more prone to cardiovascular stress include Boxer, Doberman Pinscher, Great Dane, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dachshund, and Bulldog.
Heart problems are more common in dogs than most owners realise, and the risk increases with age. Some breeds are also more prone to heart problems than others.
Early signs can be easy to miss, so regular check-ups with your vet are important. Many owners also choose to give their dog a heart supplement like maxxicardio, to support healthy heart function every day.
maxxicardio contains carefully chosen ingredients that support normal heart and circulatory function in dogs. Each ingredient has its own role (see more about each one below). Together, the amino acids, minerals and vitamins support healthy heart muscle, normal circulation and a regular heartbeat, and help to protect cells against oxidative stress.
This makes maxxicardio a good daily supplement for senior dogs and for active dogs whose hearts work hard.
The ingredients in maxxicardio support healthy heart function and can also support exercise performance. By supporting muscle strength and normal circulation, maxxicardio helps build stamina and focus. Both are important for working dogs (farm dogs, police dogs, sled dogs, service dogs) and for dogs that compete in sports (agility, flyball, canicross).
It also supports normal muscle recovery after exercise.
Our dogs’ love is irreplaceable and so are their hearts. maxxicardio is designed with your dog’s heart in mind: the carefully selected ingredients support his heart and circulation, every day.
L-carnitine is an amino acid (a building block of protein). It is made naturally by the liver and kidneys and stored in the muscles, heart and brain.
The body uses L-carnitine to turn fat into energy. The heart muscle gets much of its energy from fat, which is why L-carnitine is important for normal heart function.
A canine study published in 2017 found that L-carnitine supported both exercise performance and recovery in working dogs, with beneficial effects on lean muscle mass.
Taurine is an amino acid found naturally in meat and fish. Dogs can make their own taurine, but some dogs benefit from extra in their diet.
Taurine is found in high levels in the heart muscle, brain and eyes. It supports normal heart function and normal nerve function.
Vets increasingly check taurine levels in dogs as part of heart health checks. Taurine also supports normal nerve function, which is why it is one of the key ingredients in our maxxicalm too.
Hawthorn is a spiny bush with bright red berries. The berries have been used traditionally for centuries to support the heart.
Hawthorn berry powder is a popular daily supplement for senior dogs and for working dogs whose hearts work hard. It supports normal heart and circulatory function and stamina, which is why it is often called a “heart tonic”.
Hawthorn is one of the best-studied herbs. It is generally considered safe and has been tested alongside many medicines commonly used for heart care.
If your dog is on heart medication, always talk to your vet before starting maxxicardio, and never change your dog’s medication without your vet’s advice.
Ginkgo biloba (also called maidenhair) is a tree native to China. Its leaves have been used in traditional Chinese herbal practice for centuries, and modern supplements use the leaf.
Ginkgo supports normal blood flow to the brain and the rest of the body, which in turn supports the heart and brain. It is also rich in flavonoids and terpenoids, natural compounds with strong antioxidant properties.
Studies on pets have mainly looked at brain function and behaviour, for example this study that found ginkgo biloba leaf to be a safe dietary supplement for an elderly dog (NCBI 2006). Studies on humans have also looked at ginkgo’s role in normal blood flow (NCBI 2008).
Magnesium is a mineral that every cell in the body needs to work. Magnesium citrate is magnesium bound to a citrate salt, which makes it easier for the body to absorb.
Magnesium supports a steady heart rhythm, normal blood pressure and strong bones. It also plays an important part in how muscles contract and relax, which supports exercise performance and normal muscle recovery.
If your dog is on heart medication, please talk to your vet before starting any supplement.
Studies on humans suggest that magnesium supports exercise performance, for example this one showing how magnesium increases the glucose available to the blood, muscles and brain during exercise (NCBI 2014).
Potassium is a mineral that the heart, kidneys and other organs need to work normally (WebMD). It also helps maintain the body’s fluid balance. The body cannot make potassium, so your dog must get it from his diet.
Potassium helps muscles contract and relax, including the heart muscle, and supports a regular heartbeat. It also supports muscle growth and strength, which is important for dogs in training and exercise.
Studies on humans have looked at the role of dietary potassium in normal heart and circulatory health (NCBI 2011).
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble nutrient found in many foods and is required for the proper function of many organs in the body
On a supplement label, natural vitamin E is listed as d-alpha tocopherol, d-alpha tocopheryl acetate, or d-alpha tocopheryl succinate (as in maxxicardio). And with vitamin E, natural is better (Chiro).
Vitamin E is essential for a dog’s muscles and circulation. It is also a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals (National Institutes of Health).

If your dog has a heart condition, always talk to your vet before starting any supplement.
We always recommend starting slowly with any new supplement and gradually increasing the amount given. This allows your dog to get used to the new ingredients, both the taste and texture, and helps to minimise the risk of any potential stomach upset.
The recommended maintenance amount is shown on the back of the label. Your vet may advise a different amount for your dog, for example double the maintenance amount for the first few weeks.
This is one of the many benefits of a powder: it is easy to adjust the amount in line with your dog’s needs over time.
The easiest way to administer maxxicardio is to mix it in with your dog’s food. maxxicardio does not contain any artificial flavours, colours, preservatives or binders. It has a natural flavour and the vast majority of dogs happily eat their food when maxxicardio has been added to it.
However, there are always exceptions. If your dog is not accepting maxxicardio for some reason, please contact us directly and we will offer you some additional tips and support. If we cannot together get your dog to happily accept his new supplement, we will fully refund you.
Because no matter how effective maxxicardio is, it will not work if the dog is not taking it. Fortunately, when we have had the opportunity to work with the owners, we have in most cases been successful in getting the dogs to accept their supplements. Which is exactly what we both want. For your dog to feel better with the help of our product.
We do not accept any manufacturing batch unless it conforms to all product specifications.
The Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a document issued by Quality Assurance which confirms that the product meets its product specification. It contains the actual results obtained from testing performed as part of the quality control of every individual batch of a product.
If you would like to see the Certificate of Analysis for your production batch of maxxicardio just e-mail us the LOT number (on the bottom of your container) and we will e-mail you a copy.
